Who is responsible for your information?
Patrick O’Riordan, trading as Sovereign Gentleman, is self-employed and is the data controller for this website and the Missing Map mailing list. Contact: patrick@patrickoriordan.co.uk.
What we collect and why
When you request the Missing Map Audit, we collect your email address, your first name if supplied, the date of your request and your email preferences. Your email is needed to deliver the audit; your first name and marketing consent are optional. We also keep relevant correspondence and technical delivery records to deal with enquiries, errors and misuse.
We use this information to fulfil your request and run a reliable, secure service. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who ask for the audit or contact us. The answers you write in the downloaded PDF remain with you: the signup form does not collect your questionnaire answers. Please do not send sensitive personal information through the form.
Optional emails and opting out
We send practical guidance, Missing Map follow-ups and coaching news only if you choose the separate email opt-in. The lawful basis for these marketing emails is your consent. You can receive the audit without joining the mailing list.
Use the unsubscribe or “change email preferences” link in a marketing email, or email Patrick, to withdraw consent at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. Opting out of marketing does not prevent us from responding to a new request you make.
Wix, email delivery and international transfers
We use Wix to host the website, store form submissions and contacts, and deliver emails. Wix and its service providers process information for these purposes. We do not sell your mailing-list details. Information may also be disclosed where required by law.
Wix may process data outside the UK, including in Israel and other countries. Its data processing terms provide for adequacy decisions or appropriate contractual safeguards for international transfers, as applicable. See Wix’s data processing agreement, or contact Patrick for information about the safeguards.
Email open tracking is switched off for our campaigns and automated emails. Wix still records delivery information and clicks on email links, which we use to check delivery and understand use of the audit. We rely on our legitimate interest in maintaining the service for this limited record keeping. You may object by contacting Patrick, including to request a direct download link.
Cookies and your choices
Essential cookies support security and basic website functions. Optional analytics and marketing cookies are controlled through the cookie banner: choose Accept all, Decline all or Settings. You can reopen cookie settings on the site to change your choice. See Wix’s cookie information for details of its cookie types. Consent is the basis for optional cookies that require it.
How long we keep information
We keep audit requests and correspondence for as long as needed to deliver the resource, resolve enquiries and maintain relevant records. Mailing-list information is kept while your consent remains valid and the mailing relationship is relevant. We review information and remove it when it is no longer needed. A minimal opt-out record may be retained to prevent unwanted marketing, together with consent records needed to demonstrate how permission was obtained or resolve a complaint.
Your rights
You can ask to access or correct your personal information, and request deletion, restriction or a portable copy where the relevant conditions apply. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and always object to direct marketing. Contact Patrick using the email above to exercise your rights or raise a concern.
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We do not use this signup process to make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. This notice covers the website and audit mailing list; any additional information needed for coaching services will be explained when those services are arranged.
